"From Failing English to Building Multiple Successful Writing Businesses"
When I was 16, I failed English Literature.
I walked out of school with zero qualifications, feeling defeated and unsure of what the future would hold. Teachers had written me off, and honestly, Iād started to believe them. Writing? That wasnāt even a thought. How could it be when I could barely get through a page without stumbling?
By the time I was 19, I knew something wasnāt right. I was struggling with reading and writing far more than others around me. Simple tasks felt exhausting, and no matter how much effort I put in, I couldnāt keep up.
Thatās when I decided to take a test to see if I was dyslexic.
The result confirmed what Iād suspected: I was. For a moment, I felt crushed. Was this why Iād struggled so much? But then, I realised something profound: being dyslexic didnāt mean I couldnāt succeed. It just meant I had to approach things differently.
Finding My Voice in Sales
With no qualifications and limited options, I ended up in sales. At first, I was intimidatedāI didnāt have the credentials or experience others seemed to have. But what I did have was a knack for storytelling.
While my colleagues stuck to dry scripts, I told stories. I painted pictures of how products could transform peopleās lives, making customers the heroes of their own journeys.
The results?
I became one of the top performers, not because I had the best pitch, but because I connected with people on a deeper level.
This was my first real lesson in the power of words and stories to inspire action.
My First Writing Success
In 2008, I decided to take a leap of faith and write my first information product: a $47 eBook. I had no idea if it would sell, but I partnered with someone to help me launch it.
The result?
128 copies sold in 90 minutes, bringing in just over $6,000.
That experience was life-changing. It showed me that writing could be more than a passionāit could be a business.
Launching eComm Retail Group
In 2006, Iād already started my first business, eComm Retail Group (ERG). It began as a way to sell educational products online, but it quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, ERG includes:
- Three service agencies that help businesses with copywriting, digital marketing, and publishing.
- Three eCommerce stores offering educational and informational products across multiple niches.
Every part of ERG is built around one central idea: providing value through the written word.
Expanding Into Book Publishing
By 2017, I realised there was another gap I could fill. Over the years, Iād met so many people with incredible stories and expertise, but they didnāt know how to turn their ideas into books.
Thatās when I launched FREEDOM Book Publishing.
FBP helps aspiring authors write, publish, and promote their books. But itās more than just a publishing companyāitās a platform to empower people to share their stories and transform their lives.
The best part? Every book we help create becomes a business-building tool for its author, turning them into experts in their field.
Wellness for Children
Fast forward to 2024, and I launched my third business, Wellness for Children (WfC). This company combines my passion for writing with my desire to make a difference in the lives of young people.
Through WfC, I create wellness and mindfulness education programs that teach children and teens how to navigate anxiety, build confidence, and thrive in todayās world.
Teaching Others to Write for Profit
By this point, I had built multiple successful businesses, all centered around one thing: educational, written products.
Thatās why I created The Revenue Writers Clubāa program where I teach ambitious writers how to start and grow their own profitable online writing businesses.
The club isnāt just about writingāitās about building a life of freedom. I show writers how to leverage their skills to create eBooks, courses, and sales copy that doesnāt just sell but transforms lives.

Every business Iāve builtāeComm Retail Group, FREEDOM Book Publishing, and Wellness for Childrenāhas one thing in common:
Theyāre all based on the power of writing to educate, inspire, and create opportunities.
And now, I get to help others do the same. Whether itās guiding someone to write their first book or teaching them how to turn their words into a business, my mission is to show people that writing can be more than a skillāit can be a life-changing tool.
