From Fear, Addiction, and Collapse — to Healing, Purpose, and Impact

My journey was one of brokenness, despair, and near-death… until grace intervened. Discover how one man’s darkest hour became the spark that ignited a life of hope, service, and transformation.

Paul didn’t grow up thinking he’d be a life coach, a bestselling author, speak on stages around the world or become the founder of a global multi-brand wellbeing company. For most of his life, he just wanted to feel safe. Seen. Like he could breathe without panic gripping his chest.

From the age of 12, Paul’s life was shaped by fear. He was the target of relentless bullying. Not just playground teasing — real violence. Threats. Beatings. Kids waiting for him after school with knives. Others with guns. It was terrifying. Paul spent those years running home, literally, sprinting down streets in fear of his life.

By the time most teens were figuring out who they were, Paul was already in survival mode. The anxiety he carried was overwhelming, but he had no words for it — just a constant hum of panic that never seemed to switch off.

At 15, looking for something to take the edge off, he started smoking cannabis. It helped him escape — for a while. But the escape quickly turned into a habit. By 18, that habit had evolved into harder drugs — first speed, then cocaine. What started as a coping mechanism became a cycle he couldn’t control. The highs were fleeting, and the crashes were brutal.

At 19, Paul was diagnosed with dyslexia. Another piece of the puzzle finally made sense — the school struggles, the frustration, the feeling of being “less than.” But it didn’t make life easier. In fact, it added another layer of shame he carried quietly.

Then came 21.

It should’ve been a milestone year — instead, it nearly ended him.

Paul suffered a massive panic attack that caused his brain to be starved of oxygen. He collapsed. Clinically dead for 40 seconds.

When he came back, everything was different.

He couldn’t pretend anymore. Not to his family. Not to his friends. Not to himself.

That same year, doctors gave him the diagnoses he’d been unknowingly living with for years: addictive personality, anxiety disorder, and mood disorder. It was a lot to take in — but it was also a relief. Finally, things started making sense.

He began therapy. And this time, he didn’t run from the pain — he faced it.

For the first time, Paul had a safe space to talk about the bullying, the fear, the addiction, the chaos in his mind. Therapy helped him rebuild. Slowly. Painfully. Honestly. He didn’t transform overnight. He had relapses. Bad days. Moments where it felt like he was right back at the start.

But he kept showing up.

By 28, Paul had turned his mess into a mission. He became a certified life coach — but more than that, he became a Breakthrough Anxiety Coach, an Educator and a Wellbeing Specialist, specialising in the thing that almost took his life. He didn’t just want to help people feel better. He wanted to help them feel free.

And he’s done exactly that.

Paul has written two bestselling books. Spoken on stages to thousands. Built a business from nothing and became a multi-award-winning entrepreneur. In 2020, he was ranked #257 out of the Top 500 Global Business & Lifestyle Coaches.

And still, his work is deeply personal.

Even at 47, Paul is still learning about himself. He was recently diagnosed with mood disorder and self-tested for ADHD, uncovering yet another layer to his story. It explained even more — the restlessness, the intensity, the hyper-focus. It didn’t come with shame. It came with clarity.

Paul isn’t perfect. He’s not trying to be.
He’s real. He’s honest. And he’s walking proof that healing is possible.

Since Paul was 5 years old, he's had labels stuck to him like name tags he never asked for.

The church called him naughty.
School called him lazy.
College labelled him dyslexic.
His counsellor called him an addict.
The doctor? Anxious. Moody.

And somehow, they were all confused about why his wellbeing wasn’t great.

But what he never heard was...

Paul, you're really...

Creative,
Exciting,
Ambitious,
Great storyteller,
Brilliant writer,
and a really good communicator.

Not once did someone say:
“Paul, you’re just YOU… and YOU are enough.”

Instead, he spent years trying to prove himself to a system that only saw what was ‘wrong’ with him.

Until one day, he stopped trying to fit into their boxes—and started building his own platform.

That platform is BeMore—a community and movement for those who are more than the labels we've been given.

If you’ve ever felt reduced to a diagnosis, a stereotype, a tick-box… know this:

You are not broken.
You are not too much.
You are not a problem to fix.

You are a full, layered, brilliant human being.
And that is more than enough.

Remember: In a world where you can be anything, BeMore.

Today, Paul’s mission is simple:

Help others break through anxiety and take control of their life so they can BeMore.

Be more than their past.
Be more than the labels.
Be more than the panic, the fear, the “I’m not good enough.”

Because if Paul can come back from all of it — so can you.

This is Paul’s story.
It’s not polished. It’s not filtered.
It’s powerful. And it’s far from over.

Paul’s journey was one of brokenness, despair, and near-death… until grace intervened. Discover how one man’s darkest hour became the spark that ignited a life of hope, service, and transformation.
